A Little Overwhelmed. Still excited.    Still Showing up.

Week two, and I’m still so excited to keep learning more about becoming a yoga instructor.

I’m not going to lie — I’m definitely feeling a little overwhelmed too. There is so much to learn, so much to remember, and so much to practice. But underneath all of that, I still know I can do this.

One of the biggest things I’m realizing is that yoga is so much more than an instructor standing at the front of a room teaching exercises. There’s a responsibility that comes with it. You want everyone to feel safe, supported, comfortable and, of course, still be able to enjoy themselves. There is so much happening behind the scenes that I never really thought about before.

I’m not usually a shy person, but standing in front of the class and practicing teaching something that I’m still learning myself...that is very intimidating.

I can feel that little fight-or-flight moment kick in. Part of me wants to run right back to my mat.  But I don’t.

I still get up.

I still stand in front of the class.

I still try.

And I think that's something I'm really proud of.

This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, and even though the days have been long and definitely exhausting at times, I’m still genuinely excited to be there and to keep moving forward.

Another thing I didn’t expect to connect with so much is journaling. I’ve never really thought of myself as someone who was good at journaling, but we’ve been doing it during training and I’m realizing how much I actually enjoy taking a minute to put my thoughts down. It has even made me want to journal on my own — so much so that I went out and bought myself a journal for home.

Maybe that’s part of this journey too.

Not just learning how to teach yoga, but learning how to slow down, pay attention to what I’m feeling, and notice how much I’m growing along the way.

Week two: tired, overwhelmed, excited, proud… and still showing up.

That feels pretty good to me.
